What We Tested
We gave each tool the same five tasks: a blog post outline, a marketing email, a product description, a LinkedIn post, and a detailed report. We measured quality, speed, and how much editing was needed.
Claude (Anthropic)
Strength: Long-form content and complex analysis. Claude consistently produced the most nuanced, well-structured output. The reasoning quality means fewer factual errors and less editing.
Best for: Blog posts, reports, proposals, technical documentation, and anything where depth matters.
Editing needed: Minimal. 5-10 minutes of refinement per piece.
ChatGPT (OpenAI)
Strength: Speed and versatility. ChatGPT is fastest for quick drafts and short-form content. The voice mode is useful for brainstorming. Custom GPTs add specialised capabilities.
Best for: Social media posts, ad copy, brainstorming, and quick first drafts.
Editing needed: Moderate. 10-15 minutes to adjust tone and remove generic phrasing.
Jasper
Strength: Marketing-specific templates. Jasper has pre-built frameworks for ads, landing pages, emails, and social posts. The brand voice feature helps maintain consistency.
Best for: Marketing teams producing high volumes of ad copy and campaign content.
Editing needed: Moderate. Good starting points but output can feel formulaic.
Copy.ai
Strength: Quick copy generation. Rapid output for product descriptions, social posts, and short-form marketing copy.
Best for: E-commerce descriptions and simple marketing copy.
Editing needed: Significant for anything beyond short-form.
The Verdict
For most business writing, Claude gives you the best balance of quality and efficiency. For high-volume marketing copy, Jasper is worth the investment. For everything else, ChatGPT's versatility makes it a solid default.
